Visitors mimic Po’s movements and skills to score points
An interactive game has been installed at Shrek’s Adventure! London, launched to coincide with the recent release of Kung Fu Panda 3.

AV specialists LeslieTec developed the experience, which allows visitors to mimic Po the Panda’s movements and skills to score points. Po, the franchise protagonist, performs a range of eight different martial arts poses and, using motion-tracking technology, visitors recreate the postures in the hope of finally being crowned the ultimate Dragon Warrior.

Leslietec used Optoma’s ZU650 6,000 lumen laser-phosphor projector with short throw lens and a Kinect V2 sensor to create a one-minute game that does not need to be supervised by staff, is low maintenance and brings the DreamWorks’ character life with high quality imagery. The lamp-free laser projector gives 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast and 20,000 hours of operation.

Alastair Leslie, director at Leslietec, said: “The ZU650 was the perfect solution for this project. It was the only pro install 6,000 lumen laser-phosphor projector on the market that would fit into the space in portrait mode, with the right throw ratio and within budget.”

“This installation has made such a difference,” said Emily Parsons from operating group Merlin Entertainments. “It was previously quite a static area. Now, visitors can let off steam and interact with the exhibits making the whole experience so much more memorable – and fun.”

Attractions designers Matthew Ringland (Matthew Ringland Creative) and Richard Hollyer (Hollyer Projects) oversaw the experience design and Pinewood Creative were brought on as technical partners.
