Musco Lighting Europe is to sponsor a lifestyle programme developed by Nottingham RFU over a three year period.
The scheme has been designed to improve school children's interpersonal skills through the game of TAG rugby. Musco has recently lit one of the training pitches at Nottingham and are in the process of lighting an additional training pitch.
This lifestyle programme is a leadership training package taught in schools by Nottingham RFU coaches. The programme is worked through the rugby game aimed at school children who are either over-boisterous or extremely shy. The idea is to assist students who have poor communication skills and low self -esteem by using sport as a medium for rebuilding confidence and teaching new skills.
The sponsorship package falls under 'Community Sponsorship', allowing the club to apply for Sportsmatch funding, a government funded scheme set up to help fund grass roots and community sports in England. The government will match new sponsorship money with Sportsmatch funding on a pound for pound basis allowing the club to receive additional funds for the programme.
The scheme has built up an excellent reputation with the local authorities, schools, colleges and sports groups. Although such programmes exist within workshops, this is one of the first of its kind within sport.
