Thornton Sports produced two new products using alternative yarns A full-size artificial grass pitch and 5-a-side area have been resurfaced by Thornton Sports as part of a joint venture between Rushcliffe School and Field Sports Management at Nottingham Football Centre.
The two facilities had previously been out of use but are now fully operational and used both during school hours and hired out during evenings and weekends.
Two synthetic grass facilities with a stripy effect were requested, to create the look of natural grass pitches that had been cut in opposing directions. Thornton Sports produced two new products using alternative yarns, creating a subtle contrast between rolls of synthetic grass.
The modified products were based on the company’s ‘SoccerTurf 40M’ and ‘SoccerTurf 60M’ surfaces, which are IATS certified for football use and manufactured in-house within the UK.
To complete the installation, new pitch dividers were also installed to enable the full-size pitch and 5-a-side area to be divided into four and two areas retrospectively.
